Title:Art And The WOW Effect – How To Catch Our Attention.

Lecture duration: 1:00hr

Languages: English, Hebrew.

Target Audience: Enthusiastic experiences lovers who like to try new things, art lovers, curious people

We live in an age in which our thrill threshold is constantly rising. The endless search for extreme experiences also affects the art world, as we see in the past few years. Immersive and interactive art, in which the viewer takes an active part, draws most of the attention.

Take, for example, the New York Ice Cream Museum, which attracts long lines  – people will do anything for an art selfie. Take Yayoi Kusama’s infinity rooms, artistic pop-up events in demolished buildings – for which people are prepared to stand in line for a wow experience. How do they know what to expect? Because these attractions are uploaded on social networks and evoke a severe sense of FOMO (fear of missing out).

This lecture will cover the WOW phenomenon and the artists at its center. Starting from Christo, through Yayoi Kusama, Teamlab Collective, Olafur Eliasson and others. Expect a WOW experience!
